Saudi investigated for money laundering after buying $27 mln painting

The son of a famous merchant in Jeddah is being investigated amid money laundering claims, after he bought an oil painting for $27 million in Europe.

Saudi authorities’ suspicions were aroused after the man bought the painting by a Malaysian painter, who is not well known internationally known, Saudi daily al-Watan reported.

The suspects were identified by authorities in Europe working in cooperation with Saudi authorities.
