Cognizant said it incurred $27 million in costs related to its investigation into bribery in India and its related lawsuits last year, even as it admitted that it is likely to incur costs related to the investigation this year as well. Late September, Cognizant disclosed that it had discovered violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. The company determined that about $6 million could have been paid as bribes to facilitate real estate transactions in India.
