… Martin and Saleh would meet with Alberga to exchange lower denominations of money for $100 bills to reduce the weight of the currency they carried through airports on their bimonthly trips to Northern California’s so-called Emerald Triangle. The region is known for the high-grade marijuana grown there for legal use in that state. While there, the pair allegedly purchased hundreds of pounds of pot and mailed it back to the East Coast, Molinelli said.
They are believed to have shipped approximately 1,000 pounds of marijuana this year — including about 100 pounds with a $400,000 street value that was recently intercepted by the United States postal inspector, Molinelli said.
Detectives executed search warrants at Martin and Saleh’s $5,000-a-month apartments in Edgewater and seized $250,000, high-end watches and a Rolls-Royce, a Lamborghini, an Audi R8 and a Range Rover.
