A raid by the FBI, state and town police yesterday on a house on Riley Switch Road was linked to the indictment of seven people in connection with an alleged marijuana-sales operation. The suspects were indicted last Thursday on federal drug and money laundering charges.
Among those arrested were John and Tamara Kosta, also known as Costa, and Tamara Mihalakakis of 25 Riley Switch Road, a walled compound in a quiet neighborhood of single-family homes. Phillipston Police Chief Kevin Dodge said the house has been the source of local speculation as the walls went up around it since it was bought by the Kostas in 2005. He said the raid was run by the FBI Boston office and he is pleased with the result.
“It was a good day for Phillipston,” he said.
The Kostas were charged with conspiracy to possess marijuana with the intent to distribute and distribution of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and distribution of marijuana, conspiracy to launder money, and money laundering.
Others arrested yesterday, all facing the same charges, were Dennis Novicki, Alexander Napoleon and Donald McCormick. Two unnamed co-conspirators have also been indicted.
