The case against the Bulgarian businessman Mario Nikolov and a few more people for laundering ?7.5 million, drained from the EU agriculture programme SAPARD, starts again. This was announced by Bulgaria’s Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tstatsarov at a conference in Munich, discussing the institution of the European Prosecutor’s Office, BNR reports.
In August 2012 the Sofia Appellate Court returned the case to the Prosecution because of significant procedural violations. Since the case is for abuse with money from SAPARD, it will be reviewed by experts from the new European institution, specialized in financial crimes with EU funds.
