Australian law enforcement authorities have seized over AUD 4.8 million ($3.5m) in cash, 5 kg of illicit drugs, and several cryptocurrency ATMs as part of an investigation into illegal drug importation and ML in New South Wales.
The authorities first arrested two men. One of them was in possession of AUD 120,000 ($88,730) in cash. The other had AUD 51,500 ($38,080) in cash and 13 envelopes full of illicit drugs. While executing further search warrants, the authorities arrested a third perpetrator.
Besides cash, drugs and cryptocurrency ATMs, the authorities also seized money counters, mobile phones, laptops, and USB storage devices. The three detainees have been charged with money laundering, supply of prohibited drugs, and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.
