The Netherlands’ Fiscal Information and Investigation Service (FIOD) recently arrested a man and woman, both in their 50s, from Ede. The FIOD suspects that the couple committed tax fraud. Authorities searched a house and an office in Ede, subsequently seizing physical and digital administration.
The FIOD began its investigation after receiving a report from the tax authorities. The detainees are owners of a tax and consultancy firm. They were unwilling to make their accounts available to the tax authorities for an audit.
The authorities have released the couple from detention. The public prosecutor has also imposed mandatory community service on both the suspects.
