“Kristopher Wassell went to great lengths to protect his enterprise which supplied cocaine to much of central Essex. He would avoid the day-to-day drug trafficking, preferring instead to direct operations from a distance. It was the sheer tenacity of the investigators, who for two years worked to link Kristopher Wassell to a succession of commercial drug deals that brought about his downfall.
“The lifestyle he led was extravagant and funded through drugs money. As the head of this organised crime group, Kristopher Wassell had considerable influence over those who worked for him or came to be in his debt. The lifestyle he led with his partners was extravagant and funded through drugs money. However, the evidence recovered through his purchases of exotic holidays, designer clothing and high-value jewellery was ultimately used to convict him and his fellow defendants.”
The Kent & Essex Serious Crime Directorate worked for over two years with the Crown Prosecution Service to conclude one of the most complex prosecutions of its type.
