Nigeria’s Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), will be granted access to Interpol databases for profiling Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs) and financial crime suspects.
Officials from the ICPC and other significant Nigerian agencies recently met with Interpol to discuss the collaboration. Both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), allowing Nigerian law enforcement agencies unrestricted access to Interpol’s global criminal databases.
The ICPC has announced that it will regularly issue global notices relating to high-profile suspects, particularly PEPs. The Commission will also join the Interpol’s Global Focal Point Network to tackle corrupt individuals. Meanwhile, the Interpol will boost information sharing with Nigerian agencies and prevent the influx of migrant terrorist fighters into Nigeria.
